Music & Wildflower Festival at Pebble Creek
Lift Rides
Available
Pebble Creek's annual Wildflower Concert
will be held from
4:00pm to 10:00pm. Music will fill the slopes as concert
goers nestle their lawn chairs and blankets in the wild
flowers on the slopes. The hillside just above the deck
provides a perfect view of both the performers and the sunset.
Guided wild flower hikes around the area will be offered
before the concert.
Concert tickets are available in advance in
Pocatello at Scott's Ski and Sports, Barrie's Sports, The
College Market and The Raven's Nest. Tickets are $7.00 in
advance and $10.00 at the gate. Children 12 and under are
admitted to the concert free of charge. If the weather is wet,
the concert will take place inside the lodge.
In
celebration of the beautiful natural wildflower display, Pebble
Creek will operate the Sunshine Triple Chair Lift before the
concert, for persons wanting to take a wildflower hike back down
the mountain. Professional botanists will be along the hiking
routes to identify plants and wildflowers. They will also staff
an interpretive display in the lodge area. Lift rides are
offered from 4:00 to 6:45 PM. The cost for the lift ride is
$10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids 5 to 12. Sorry, no kids
under 5 are permitted on the lift.
Portneuf Brewing will serve a variety of
their local brews and National Ski Patrol members will be
barbecuing a delectable menu of food on the deck.
The Festival is a fund raiser for the Pebble
Creek National Ski Patrol.
The music
starts at 400pm on the deck with "Rapid Creek".
Rapid Creek is made up of Ron Clayson on Keyboard and Dave
Morrison on guitar, bass, drums, keys or basically anything else
needed to round out the sound. They both take turns on
vocals. Don't let their size fool you. The
technology in Ron's keyboard, combined with Dave's in studio
expertise, allows them to create deep layers of sound. For
example, "Atlantis", written in Pink Floyd style, is
an epic, musical journey through the power days and downfall of
that ancient fabled civilization. "Let's Roll",
has a Linkin Park feel to it. Other songs range from
classic rock to country in a "Rapid Creek"
style. "Rapid Creek" plays mostly original tunes
that are noted for having a positive message woven throughout
their unique style.
Around
530pm, Aaron Ball and his Somewhere in the Middle Band (SITM)
take their turn on the stage. This is a great bet if
you're looking for an exciting evening full of explosive fun,
great music and clean entertainment. Listed as an
alternative, acoustic, pop rock, Aaron and SITM cover a mixture
of songs that can be found on just about every radio station
today. However, they really shine when playing original
music. Their original music is best described as a mixture
of bands such as Lifehouse, Better than Ezra, Coldplay, Three
Doors Down, The Calling, Gavin Degraw, John Mayer and the list
goes on. Based out of Twin Falls, Aaron has performed
across the Western US as an acoustic singer/songwriter, and
makes a point to put on a great show everywhere he goes.
"we pride ourselves in putting on the type of show that
anyone can enjoy, regardless of age or musical taste. We
like to think of a show as an experience, and want everyone to
come away feeling entertained," say Aaron. Although
he is involved in several music projects, Aaron has always made
a priority of songwriting and performing with his original band,
Somewhere in the Middle based locally in Pocatello.
Finally,
last but certainly not least, Graybeard takes the stage around
730pm and plays until the sun goes down. From world famous
resorts like Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Sun Valley, Idaho, to
one of the biggest three day rock festivals in the country,
Rockin' the Rivers, in Central Montana, Graybeard has been
bringing smiles and tasty music to listeners throughout the
Intermountain West for nearly four years. Musical
diversity has been and continues to be the hallmark of the
unusual sound. Consisting of four well rounded musicians
with backgrounds ranging from country thru R&B, Soul, Funk,
Blues, Folk, and Rock & Roll, they have the ability to
tailor their show to a wide variety of audience tastes.
Their harmonies are reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, and Nash and
the Eagles, their lyrics flow seamlessly from poignant, to
comic, to hard-hitting, their professionalism is beyond
reproach, and their fan-base ranges from people in their 20's to
those in their 60's. As graybeard continues to expand
their musical horizons and sphere of influence across the
country, their goal will continue to be what it always has
been: Capture the Crowd, take them for the Ride, and see
to it that everyone has a great time!
